9-6-20 “Unity in the Servanthood of Jesus”

“And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in
unto him, Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the
Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him” (Acts 28:30-31).

Message Title: “Unity in the Servanthood of Jesus”.

Book: Philippians 2:1-5

Key Verse:
“Let this mind (of love v.1, joy v.2, unity v.2, humility v.3, and service to others v.4) be in
you, which is also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5, KJV).

Key Words: love, joy, unity, humility, service

Reference Verses:
“As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them
who are of the household of faith.” (Galatians 6:10, KJV).

“Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one
another;” (Romans 12:10, KJV).

Observations: Paul cites the qualities of a Christian who is worthy of the gospel. Paul
exhorts believers to care for and serve fellow Christians in the family of believers

Interpretations: God first, others second, me third. Through Jesus, all believers have a
special bond not of ourselves, but in and through Jesus Christ.

Applications: (The “So What?)
1. Every believer should maintain a humble sense of unity through humility and
service to fellow believers.

2. Every believer should maintain a humble sense of service and love towards non-
believers so that the gospel is advanced and lost people come to faith.
