“What Have We Become?” 6-29-19

I have not written a post for quite some time.  Not wanting to throw just anything out there has caused me to step back until a thought or two lingers.

I just finished doing a little touch-up painting this afternoon.  I was using one of those inexpensive (cheap) foam paintbrushes. When it came time to clean up, I thought, “why not just toss it and buy another cheap one when I visit the local hardware store?”  Now the brush had seen better days, but with a little bit of clean up, it would be able to do the job next time around.

It got me to thinking that sometimes we think it is easier to buy a new ‘something’ and just throw that old ‘something’ away that is still useable or useful for expediency sake.  After all, it takes a little effort to take care of that ‘something’ or ‘somebody.’  And aren’t we doing the same thing when put our elderly in care facilities when we have the ability to adequately care for them?  And aren’t we doing that very thing when we sacrifice the unborn for the sake of having more $$$ in our pockets for our own personal use?  After all, it doesn’t take any effort to raise a child or care for someone who isn’t there.

It makes me wonder what we have become and where we are headed.

Blessings,

Lee
