1 John 15:18-19
“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.”
A cell mate came into my cell one day and told me the whole pod hated her. She was a quiet and quirky young lady. She woke up early and did bible study in the day room, then exercised. My comfort to her was this bible verse. I told her they didn’t like Jesus either, in fact they killed him. We are not for others approval, only Jesus.
Matthew 4:19
“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”
I met young lady in Missoula County Jail. We were transported to Cascade County Jail together. I helped her get acquainted with the way things ran there. When the church ladies came in, I invited her to sit with me. She was uncomfortable to talk about God, but I kept mentioning him to her. She went on with her journey. When I spoke with her yesterday she told me that when she got to prison she ended up reading the entire bible and gave her life to Jesus! She thanked me for planting the seed in her because God took her experience and made it good. When I was home from prison, I questioned my discipleship. But hearing her testimony, I know God uses me in ways I don’t even recognize.
