How many times have we said, or thought “if only we had a newer car, a bigger house, married someone else, lived in a different city, had a different job…..?” When we stand on the bank of the “if only” river, we tend to focus on what is on the other side and lose sight of the bank we are standing on. If we were to look around at what is on our side of the river, we probably would be surprised by how good things really are. Let’s appreciate and be grateful for the “already” that we have rather than the “if only.”
1 Timothy 6:6 – New International Version (NIV)
6 “But godliness with contentment is great gain.”

Change of focus is so important! It changes our “If only” to “already” and then moves us on to “but since”–a wonderful broadening of view to include others. Great post!
Great addition of “but since.” Keeps us moving in the right direction with the right focus.
